1. Enviu celebrates it's 4th birthday today!
While everybody thinks of Valentine today, we at Enviu are celebrating our official birthday! Exactly four years ago, on 14.02.2004, was the date that we officially registered Enviu as Foundation at the Chamber of Commerce. For some it seems already a long time ago, others are surprised about our short age. Read here what we wrote back then in our first newsletter.

2. Hybrid Tuktuk news and Stef's India trip
In the Newsletter of October we introduced to you the start of a new project: The Hybrid Tuktuk - One million Tuktuks, Let's make them Hybrid!

In the meantime the Tuktuk project has recruited many new interns, a real Tuktuk arrived in Rotterdam and Stef just visited India! Read about the many new developments within the Tuktuk project.                                                Read more>>

3. Students group from Sweden involved in innovative C2C research
Coming from Sweden three Master students took on an Enviu thesis assignment, to help further develop the Cradle to Cradle concept. The students came to the Enviu office to have a brainstorm session with some Enviu-ers to better understand the gaps within the C2C development. Basically C2C is a change from linear product process to a circular process. Waste becomes a new product; C2C therefore offers a complete sustainable solution. The brainstorm session helped the students pin point what they need to investigate the coming period.

4. Update on Sustainable International Entrepreneurship Competition:
Bridge between students and entrepreneurs
As mentioned in the October Newsletter, Enviu organises, in cooperation with AliceO, the Sustainable International Entrepreneurship competition (or in Dutch: HBO DIO). Today an update of all the successful matches between entrepreneurs, their research requests and schools and their students, inspiring jury events, and much more...

5. Sustainability innovations in the 2^nd hand clothing industry
The past months Enviu has guided three graduates through their internships for our partner KICI, a second-hands clothing gathering organisation. Alexander, Matthijs and Sander are exploring solutions to increase the life time of second-hand textiles. Each contribution is a step in realising KICI’s ambition: finding new sustainable ways to re-use (wearable and) non re-wearable textiles. This ambition is part of KICI’s overall strategy of making their chain (collection, sorting, exporting or recycling) more transparent, sustainable and innovative. Our communication interns Kim and Stephanie have interviewed them to share their experiences.

6. A new project in start-up phase: The Innovation LAB
The past months Enviu started a new project: The innovation LAB. The main focus of the I-lab is to inspire young entrepreneurs to develop innovative business solutions for environmental and social issues; from WOW! ideas to start-up. I- lab will have it’s own think tank center in a 3000 m2 ware house at the Stadshaven. Oriol Pascual is Enviu’s new Business Developer for the Innovation Lab and tells you a bit more about the project.

7. Enviu helping make Rotterdam more sustainable in two new projects
Enviu is supporting the municipality of Rotterdam to make the famous, large festivals, like the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Summer Carnaval and Camping Rotterdam, more sustainable. Another local project is in cooperation with the Port of Rotterdam, which has as aim to generate possible sustainable ideas for the Port together with the employees.
