Enviu is...
an international non-profit organisation for and by young people. We facilitate young entrepreneurial people in starting up and scaling up their activities focused on profitable solutions for environmental issues. We operate in the Netherlands and medium income countries.
 
Target group
For: starters within large organisations or non-profit organisations, established small business entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs (young entrepreneurial professionals within a large company).
 
By: students and young professionals, between the age of 21 and 35, primarily with a business or economic background. They are active as volunteers in Enviu projects.

Entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, sharing knowledge and expertise, young people, network, trendy and businesslike.
 
Core activities:
  • Start-up and scale-up facilitation: from generating ideas, concept and business plan development to the first implementation. Activities are for example brainstorming sessions, workshops, market research, expertise exchanging sessions, training, facilitation of a stakeholder dialogue and change management.
  • Management of the Enviu international community: offering an attractive, inspiring work- and study environment to young entrepreneurial people. Personal and professional development are the main points in this. For example: brainstorming sessions, workshops, participation in projects, training, internships, theses and voluntary work in the Netherlands and abroad.

  • Start February 2004 in the Netherlands;
  • Approximately 175 volunteers active in the Netherlands and 8 employees (some part-time): 6 in the Netherlands and 2 in Chile;
  • Board (5), Scientific Advisory Board (4), Expert Group (8);
  • Public financing 2006: e.g. Ministry of VROM, IUCN, NIZW, OBR and SBAW;
  • Private financing in 2006: Ordina, donors;
  • Partnerships and cooperation with several universities and colleges: RSM (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Hogeschool voor Toerisme (Breda), Utrecht School of Governance, University of Tilburg (several faculties), Free University Amsterdam, Saxion Hogescholen (Deventer), Inholland, Hebo (Den Haag), University Twente, HES Amsterdam;
  • Cooperation with companies such as: Ordina, Architect bureau Döll;
  • Networks: Economic Development Board Rotterdam, Social Venture Network, Laluz Foundation, Amorion and Enviu is a member of DHO (Sustainability in Higher Education).
