The bridge between students and business in development
This (school) year Enviu has started to participate in a new project, which is called ‘International Sustainable Enterprising’ (in Dutch: Duurzaam Internationaal Ondernemen, DIO). In this project students from Institutes of Higher Professional Education throughout the Netherlands are working on themes such as sustainability, enterprise in developing countries, micro credit, ‘Bottom of the Pyramid’ strategies, and much more. For 4 to 6 months they are working in teams on a practical research question for small (start-up) businesses in emerging economies and developing countries. Enviu acts as an intermediary, connecting the small companies with the educational institutions. What's more, our young professional volunteers act as the external jury at the end of each assignment, bringing a competitive element to the project by awarding a prize of 200 euro for the best research plan.
At the moment we are looking for small companies that are interested in a low-cost research (max 150 euro) and have a connection with a developing country. If you would like to receive more information, please contact Marieke at marieke@enviu.org.
Also we are looking for sponsors who would like to support this project financially and attach their name to a project about sustainability topics that reaches more than 700 students through the Netherlands.
The organisation Alice O launched this project last year for the first time, and for this season they asked Enviu to participate and help to take it to another level.
The NCDO is a financing partner of this project.
For more information you can look at the DIO website.
